WHO WE ARE

Ko Whakatere te maunga
Ko Waimā te awa
Ko Ngāpuhi te iwi
Ko Te Māhurehure te hapū

Founded in 1969, our marae was created as a home for Te Māhurehure and Ngāpuhi whānau living away from home in the big smoke of Tāmaki Makaurau. Throughout the 70’s and 80’s our kaumatua worked tirelessly to fundraise, build and run this special place, and we’re dedicated to carrying on their legacy. To fulfil our shared greatest aspirations — in keeping our culture alive and bringing our people together.

OUR STORY

OUR PURPOSE

The kaupapa of Te Māhurehure Cultural Marae Society has always been to provide a place where people can gather and connect

Today, our marae stands as a place of connection, a thriving cultural hub where flocks of whānau, visitors and professionals gather every week for a vast range of reasons and occasions.

Our people and place provides a special experience where all walks of life can come to connect over important kaupapa or for business, recreation or community purposes.
